Adobe® Reader®
Several documents throughout this Website are
available in Portable Document Format, called PDF. These files
contain complex documents with graphs, images, and special text that
cannot be presented easily through the typical Web browser.
Adobe® Reader® is free software that allows everyone from
business professionals to home users to easily and reliably view,
print, and search PDF files using a variety of platforms and devices.
Adobe® Reader® lets you view and print Adobe PDF files on
a variety of hardware and operating system platforms. Acrobat Reader
provides a host of features that enable you to submit PDF forms
created with fillable form fields to such applications as Adobe
Acrobat 7.0 Professional and Adobe Form Designer. Play back a variety
of embedded multimedia content, such as QuickTime and MP3 files. Read
and organize high-fidelity e-books. Activate search and accessibility
capabilities built into your PDF files, and display Adobe Photoshop
Album slide shows and electronic cards.
Version 7.0 offers enhanced performance with faster loading and
zooming, expanded device compatibility, and extended application
support for files attached to PDF documents.

The creator of this file format, Adobe Systems, offers a free
viewer so that you can view any PDF file. It is calld Adobe Acrobat
Reader. There are versions for a wide variety of computers, operating
systems, and languages.
You can easily download the program and install it on your
computer. Installation instructions are available at the Adobe
Systems website.
PDF Support for the Visually
Disabled
Adobe Systems Incorporated is currently increasing its
accessibility support for visually disabled Web users. At its
dedicated website, they describe new software with a number of
capabilities to help improve access for disabled users, including a
free plug-in.
Note: This program is a download manager that will trigger a
larger, 27MB download. Bundled programs include Yahoo Toolbar with
Anti-Spy and Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition. During
installation, you may choose not to install these programs by
refusing to accept their license agreement. Adobe Acrobat Reader will
still install.
Document Exploration
A step-by-step tutorial on how to explore documents in Acrobat

Page forward and back
Explore the document page by page.
Like turning pages in a real book, these buttons move the reader
forward and back through the PDF document. The exact order of the
documents page are followed by using thes buttons.
Beginning and End of Document
Move instantly to the beginning or end of the document.
These buttons take the reader either to the first or last page of
the document.
Back and Forward by Viewing Order
Move back and forward through pags you have viewed.
The buttons remember the order of the pages you viewed. When the
reader pushes "back", the previously viewed page is shown. Assume the
reader was on page 10 and jumped to page 20. When the reader pushes
"back," page 10 will be shown (no page 19) because page 10 was the
previously viewed page.

"Grab" the document to pan side to side or up and down

Enlarge and Reduce the document size
Copy Text
Copy sections of the document's text
Word Search
Sarch for a specific word anywhere in the document
Page Option
Explore the pages one by one
This viewing option presents only one page of the entire
collection of documents. In this mode only the exploration buttons
may be used to move through the documet.
Bookmarks Option
Move to any section using a Table of Contents
The Bookmarks Option is a powerful means of exploring the PDF
document. This viewing option presents a "clickable' table of
contents. The reader can move from chapter to chapter instatly by
clicking on the chapter's name.
Thumbnails Option
Select ordered pages based on their thumbnails
This viewing option displays small versions of the document pages.
These thumbnails are presented as ordered pages. They may be reviewed
before slecting one for viewing in the Arcobat window.
