The Presentation Window
The presentation window displays any lecture slides, audio/video
segments,animation,or interactive graphics selected by your professor
to teach the fundamental principles of your specific course. To open
the presentation window, click on "View A Presentation" from the
application menu, or click on the "Presentation" button. Once the
window is open, you will see the following:
Presentation Control Buttons
There are several important buttons located in the
presentation window.
- Forward/Backward button: These buttons advance the
presentation to the next slide,or returns the presentation to the
previous slide.
- Topic/Slide Display: Displays the current topic and slide
number of the presentation.
The following special control buttons provide additional features
for a presentation slide.These buttons will be highlighted when they
are available and shaded when they are not available.You will only be
able to click on these buttons when they are available (highlighted)
- Film: Selecting this button will open film clips that
accompany the current slide.
- Auto play: Selecting this button will advance through the
entire slide presentation,one slide at a time. Each slide will be
displayed for a set amount of time.
- Sound Control: This button controls the volume of any sound
associated with the slide.The volume can be raised and lowered by
moving the slide button up or down.
- Play: The play button begins any film or audio available for a
selected slide. Most film and audio clips have a sliding
controller that allows users to advance or reverse the clip.A time
display for the length of the film or audio clip will also
appear.
NOTE:If video clips play poorly or drops frames,or if audio
clips tend to "cut out " or do not play,,make sure you have quit any
open applications to free up additional memory (RAM).If the problem
persists,try running the application on a computer with more memory
or a faster CD-ROM.
Menu Bar Operation
An important part of the presentation window is the topic menu.
The topic menu allows users to select any presentation topic or slide
located on the disk. You can also use the topic menu to switch
between presentation disks. To open and close the menu, simply click
on the grey bar labeled "Menu" located in the top left corner of the
presentation window.
Selecting Presentation Topics and Presentation Slides:
To view all of the lecture topics on a presentation disk, open the
topic menu and click the active disk. The available topics will be
displayed. To view all of the slides of a specific topic, click the
topic you wish to view. The available slides will then be displayed.
To begin viewing the slides of a specific topic simply click the
desired slide. The slide will then be opened in the presentation
window. You can close the topic menu by clicking the "Menu" button.
Presentation Slide Navigation:
There are many ways to advance the presentation to a new topic or
a new slide.
To advance to a new topic, you can use the topic menu,or you can
use the UP and DOWN arrow keys on your computer keyboard. The UP
arrow key advances the presentation to the first slide of next topic,
the DOWN key arrow returns the presentation to the first slide of the
previous topic.
To advance to a new slide, you can use the forward/backward
buttons (described above), the topic menu, or you can use the LEFT
and RIGHT arrow keys on your keyboard. The RIGHT arrow key advances
the presentation to the next slide of the current topic, the LEFT
arrow key returns the presentation to the previous slide of the
current topic.
Switching presentation disks.
If your Classroom Companion? CD-ROM package included more
than one presentation disk you can switch between CD's by using the
presentation topic menu. Simply select the presentation disk in the
topic menu that you would like to view. Once you click on the new
disk number, your computer will eject the current disk so that you
can place the new disk in the CD-ROM drive. The new material will
load automatically when the CD-ROM tray is closed.
Important: In order to view additional ClassCD disks, you must
first load application disk 1. After disk 1 is loaded, you can switch
to a subsequent disk by using the method mentioned above.
NOTE:You can also switch disks by selecting the eject option
from the file menu at the top of the screen or from the control
window.
Additional Information
Our goal is to help you develop a deep and practical understanding
of the material and to assist you in your study.
As a result, some presentation slides may contain links to
additional material, definitions or questions. To access this
material, simply place your mouse cursor over the underlined text and
click the mouse.
If you reach the last slide of a topic and try to advance to the
next slide by using the forward/backward buttons or keyboard arrow
keys, the first slide of the next/previous topic will automatically
appear. |
